Will more money make you happy? This study says "no"

A group of distinguished economists and psychologists says that we won't be happier if we have more money. In fact, they think we will get used to more money and just want MORE. We'll commute farther, work longer hours, and just find more Joneses to keep up with.

As with all studies, however, you need to know what they asked people. This article doesn't say what questions they used or how they came to their conclusions.

I talk to many people who are in distress because they can't pay their bills, they fight about money, or they are disabled or stuck in a dead-end job and don't see how they will ever make a decent living. These people certainly think they would be happier with more money, and I believe them.

On the other hand, if we can't enjoy a popsicle in the shade while sitting on a cheap lawn chair because we think we need to be rich to be happy, then these experts are right. We could get everything from an in-ground pool to a villa in Spain, and we'd still be grumpy.

It's an interesting article, and right up to a point. However, the way I see it, money isn't everything but it sure is handy. Money may not solve all my problems, it seems to make my creditors very, very happy.
